All of my students come from a diverse learning background. Working at a low income rural school has been extremely eye opening. Most of my students in my classroom have gone through things that most 9-10 year olds haven't and even most adults. They struggle on a daily basis with things happening at home and some don't know if they will have dinner when they go home. Because of what I know about what happens when they go home I do my absolute best to ensure that their time in the classroom is cherished, loved, and looked forward to every single day. Most of my students are very shy and feel as if they shouldn't share their voice in fear of not saying the right thing, but if given this fun form of sharing with a throwable microphone (Q Ball) I feel as if they will come out of their shell and take ownership of their learning. They will no longer be afraid to share their thoughts but instead be excited about talking and interacting with their fellow classmates. I am a TESOL teacher at my school which means that I teach english to speakers of other languages. Many students within my classroom speak English as their second language and struggle with speaking and sharing in English. They are often times embarrassed and shy and choose to remain silent rather than to take a risk in practicing their new language in front of an entire classroom. I believe the Q Ball will help them to become more excited about practicing English and sharing with their classmates. Their learning will sky rocket and they will make leaps and bounds both within the classroom and outside of the classroom.
