  • Fútbol for All! Middle School Soccer in the Big City

    Funded Sep 13, 2021

    Thank you for your generous contributions to the future of the Soccer program at P.S./ I.S. 127 Q. We received the goals, soccer balls and other equipment to get the program started!

    As we all are aware, there has been a high level of uncertainty, changing of regulations, students and teachers quarantining, confusion over vaccination status for students and their ability to participate in afterschool programs. Due to this we have been unable to get the program started as of yet but we do have high hopes for the future. Many students have expressed interest in participating, and we have been able to secure a partnership with the NYC CHAMPS program with the help of Mr. Guerrero, one of our Physical Education teachers.

    The hope is that we can get the program up and running this Spring and if not then definitely in the Fall. when things are hopefully a bit more settled.

    Thank you again for your contribution and support of the "Futbol for All" project. We look forward to providing the students of PS/IS 127 the opportunity to learn and grow through athletics.”

  • A “SOUND” Investment!

    During this pandemic, teaching has taken on new challenges. In our school teachers are now requited to move from classroom to classroom to deliver instruction and the maintenance on the technology has not always been kept up with. To this end this Bluetooth speaker has allowed me to continue to deliver differentiated instruction to students regardless of where the instruction takes place. Students can learn through hearing the audio on videos as well as sound bites and pronunciation in their home language as well, which is important for English Language Learners.

Because of their international backgrounds many are English language learners and learn through variety of techniques including use of images, video and other mediums to support their understanding. iPads offer a unique opportunity for students to learn in a variety of ways that supplement the instruction they are getting in class. Other features that can be utilized include translation apps so students can get the instruction in their native language as well as in English which assists in language acquisition. Additionally, iPads are great for differentiating instruction for special needs students, as well as general education students.
