Sensory Seats
Funded Jun 23, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. So far this school year, my caseload of special education students has greatly enjoyed using the wobble cushions to help them with sensory regulation and focus. The category sorting game has also been highly requested by students each session as they love that there are manipulative items they can hold and play with as we target their goals. It is not often that this population gets tangible items to help with their goal work. Words can't express how much this has already helped these students begin to target their goals for the year.”

Hands-on Activities
Funded Nov 30, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations toward my speech- language therapy room. My students have greatly enjoyed the materials they received. My kindergarten students use the create a scene felt board to express their creativity while expanding their expressive language by describing each scene they create. They also practice answering questions about their scene and having conversations. My first-grade students love using the build a burger stacker game to target a wide range of skills such as recalling and following multi-step directives to prepare each order and the social skills involved in ordering food from another student. Both my kindergarteners and my first graders love using the positional words resource box to target their vocabulary and understanding and use of prepositions. A wide range of my students have been using the CVC Splash word game to practice identifying the sounds in words, reading, and even writing CVC words.
When I presented the box of hands-on materials to my students, they were ecstatic. It has been a long two years of virtual and hybrid learning. They were so happy to have activities that they could play with and manipulate for themselves. Moving forward, we are working on acquiring more hands-on materials and sensory tools for the students. These activities allow them to learn through touch as well as relieve their interest for sensory input.”
