I have recently attended training to support my students in their drive to succeed. This training include best practices for students with dyslexia among various other learning disabilities. One of the practices it the use of manipulatives to help cross the plain between the left side of their brain and the right to support synapses forming while learning written words. Using manipulatives and multiple modality methods of teaching are key to reading instruction for students with learning disabilities. Having these tools will allow my students to better understand the written language. They will bridge the cap between the spoken word and written words.
