Students do not have access to novels that were written in the past 20 years on my school campus. After studying literary genres, my freshman English students became enthralled by a dystopian sci-fi short story called "A Stranger at the Bochinche." After reading Neal Shusterman's novel Unwind, I found myself thinking how much there would be to discuss and analyze with my kiddos! Students will annotate dissecting literary elements, characterization, imagery, vocabulary and plot points. We will participate in literature circles, and end with writing an alternative ending to the story. I feel my students will benefit a great deal from a gift of this class set of fantastic books!
