  • Coder's Best Friend!

    Funded Nov 11, 2024

I would like to express our heartfelt thanks for providing the coding robots for our classroom. These innovative tools will undoubtedly play a significant role in enhancing our students' learning experiences. The opportunity to engage with hands-on technology will not only ignite their interest in coding but will also foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. Your generous contribution will have a lasting impact on their education, inspiring creativity and curiosity that will benefit them well beyond the classroom.

Thank you once again for your invaluable support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Sanders

  • Snap Circuit Amazement - Toys In A Snap!

    Funded Nov 27, 2023

My students love the new Lego sets and construction activities. Legos help inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow. They also help teach various soft skills that will shape the way that they work and interact with others including, creative thinking, teamwork, communication, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills. They allow children to achieve a sense of accomplishment, pride and build on their self-belief.

The act of manipulating Lego bricks to create models promotes the development and refinement of visual-spatial skills. This includes recognizing patterns, understanding spatial relationships, and enhancing fine motor coordination. The Legos provide a very fun way of developing all of these skills.

Again, thank you so much for your generosity and your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Sanders

  • STEM Through Medieval Machines

    Funded Apr 15, 2020

My students are using Gravity Maze. It is a falling marble gravity game. They are developing critical thinking skills. Playing their way through the challenges builds spatial reasoning and planning skills. They love the engineering aspect of the game. Right now because of Covid my students are only coming to class on certain days and they are supposed to stay six feet apart. Therefore, they are unable to play each other right now, but hopefully very soon they will be able to challenge each other and enjoy the game even more.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Sanders

Medieval war machines that once inspired fear now inspire awe and interest in students. After learning about the history of medieval siege machines, students build and experiment with trebuchets. Students build and use a trebuchet to learn about relating speed with projectile mass, testing elasticity, and designing to make the trebuchet a mobile mechanism and to launch a projectile the greatest distance. With this siege machine using counterweights, students explore how projectile mass affects a launch and how to calculate potential energy. Then, they are challenged to use their knowledge to adjust projectile and counterweight masses in order to hit a target.
