The materials I have added to my list are all for my library in my first classroom. I have included a wide selection of books, my selection is so large because my priority is making sure every student has at least one book they can make personal connections to. I have also included materials needed for an adequate library space. In my residency year, I saw my host teacher provided a library space that kids were excited to sit and be comfortable in. This is something I want to recreate in my first classroom. Throughout my residency year, my host teacher and I were able to help our students move up reading levels. Students explained they enjoyed reading because of our library space. I want to encourage this love and comfort with reading for all my future students. I believe the materials on my list will help encourage reading in my classroom. The big pillows will allow students to comfortably sit in the library and embrace the knowledge they will gain from the books on this list. Thank you for taking the time to read my request and my material list. I appreciate any and everything you are able to give!
