The pandemic changed everyone's lives including my students. I have students that are receiving in class instruction and others that are virtual only. During the pandemic all of the students suffered regression in skills and academics learned. Needs for our classroom! My students have many different needs, from toileting to physical assistance in all aspects of their environment. We have students that are wheelchair bound, tube fed and have seizures. The nap mat will be used as a changing pad that is easily wiped down after each use. The classroom dividers will be used for multiple purposes. The main use will be separating off sections of the room so the students will be able to better focus on their individual tasks and assignments. They will also be useful in implementing state testing that will need the least amount of distractions as possible. Sensory stimuli are so important for my students. My students are all extremely oral and need to have items that are not easily choked on and are easily cleaned. Having more larger sensory items that are washable would be amazing. We can send them home during the times we have to shut down or are out due to reasons of the pandemic. We also try to do as much art as possible and the jumbo paint dabbers (something that is easily held) and drying rack will come in handy as they get to participate in art projects as independently as possible. Since we are a mainly non-verbal classroom, most of our communication needs are in the form of picture cards. All academics are accessed with picture card choices so we go through tons of ink and lamination sheets. These products will help meet the students need in class and virtually.
