Paper, paper, and more paper. It's what we use all day, everyday. My students are always pulling out their notebooks, not even sure if it's the correct notebook or if there is any more paper in it. In order to help with this lack of organization, I am seeking to provide each student with a color coded folder and notebook for each classroom subject. This simple addition to our classroom will increase organization so that there is less time wasted scrounging around in desks, looking for lost papers and ultimately having to start that project over. As 5th graders who will become middle schoolers in less than a year, they can begin to own their own organizational skills with these tools at their fingertips. While the color coded notebooks and folders will help increase an ownership for their learning, students will also be able to utilize our classroom set of mini-whiteboards when they have access to the tools necessary to write on the whiteboards. We use the whiteboards almost daily during our math block and in small groups to quickly share out answers. However, our class has run out of the dry erase board markers and students have been erasing their writing with their hands. Our class loves using our whiteboards to show work, and with your help we can continue to do so, learning to love learning in the process.
