  • Headphones and Organization for a Calm and Efficient Classroom

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Thank you for donating to our classroom! These materials have helped our classroom be more organized and efficient this school year. The mail boxes have ensured that pack up time/dismissal is smooth. Each student has their own mailbox to pick up papers from. The name plate holders have made seating flexible. The drawers have helped us organize our supplies efficiently. The headphones have been sturdy and each student has their own pair to use with their iPads to complete independent learning. This school year has been made better, thanks to your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeGroat

  • Flexible Seating for Wiggly 1st Graders

    Funded Jan 19, 2024

Your donations have helped our classroom become a cozier, more functional space for learning and creativity!

Our first graders now have a comfortable rug with spots for each student to have their own space. This rug is used numerous times throughout our day for morning meeting, movement breaks, whole class instruction and more!

Our bean bag was the perfect addition to our cool down corner so that students can rest, relax, even nap when needed or complete independent reading/work.

The wobble chairs have helped our wiggly first graders be able to move freely in their seats without distracting others and increasing their focus time at their desk!

Thank you so much for your donations which not only helped my class this year, but will help my future classes as well!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeGroat

  • Interesting Books and Headphones

    Funded Dec 10, 2021

It has been 2 years since receiving these books and headphones for my 4th grade students in 2021. Since receiving these books, the students who were able to read and love the books have taken state tests, and graduated from elementary school! These students are all now in 6th grade in middle school. These books helped students who's elementary school experience was halted due to COVID-19, come back to in person learning and have real, fun, books in their hands. Thank you so much for donating to my students and helping their futures!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeGroat

  • Portable Sink in Classroom

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Having a portable sink. in our classroom has helped keep our classroom safe! Following all of the new Covid-19 protocols this year, was an adjustment for my 4th graders to get used to, but they have been doing amazing!

We are so grateful for your donations to help us wash our hands right in the classroom, preventing excess contamination by walking through the halls to use the bathroom sinks.

We use our portable sink before we eat lunch to make sure our hands are clean and germ free before we touch our food. Thank you again so much for helping us stay safe and healthy!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeGroat

  • At Home Learning Supplies

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Thank you so much for helping supply my students with learning sup[lies that they can bring home and to school through blended learning! My students use these supplies every day and we are all so thankful!

As we have gone through blended learning, the students have come into the building 1-2 days a week and remote the rest of the time. Having these supplies all wrapped up in a pencil case makes it easy for them to bring it back and forth.

It is important to have these supplies accessible at all times for my students to participate in lessons and assignments. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeGroat

  • Wiggle While You Work

    Funded Jan 28, 2020

My class and I are so thankful for all of your donations and generosity! We are determined to work hard, persevere and keep learning, learning, learning! Thanks to your help, we now have the tools to help us do even better! These Bouncybands are going to relieve my wiggly students' frustrations and help them focus while bouncing their little feet while they work! Sitting still is overrated :)

    Thanks again so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeGroat

  • Building a LOVE for Reading

    Funded Jan 27, 2020

Our 4th grade class will now be filled with so many amazing, new books, the kiddos won't know where to start! I can't wait to see the book shopping, the recommendations, the conversations, reports, reviews, and excitement that will come out of these books! You've helped me show this class how much FUN reading can be, how many incredible books exist and how to find a LOVE for reading! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeGroat

My students are a lively fourth grade bunch in an Integrated Co-Teaching setting located in the Bronx. This means that my classroom has a unique mix of students with special needs and general education students. Many of our wonderful students have Individual Education Plans to meet their specific needs and to give each student strategies and supports that will help them reach grade level and participate in the 4th grade curriculum despite any challenges they may be facing. We call our class a community, a team, and a family. We all work together to support each other and learn not only the academics but how to be loving, caring, powerful, passionate human beings. We instill in each of our students that they can do anything they put our minds to; our school starts every morning by reciting "With these hands, with this heart, with this mind, I can do ANYTHING!" And I want each of my students to believe it!
