As of now my students sit at their desk anytime it is time to do independent work. However, one question I hear on a daily basis is "Miss Main can I go sit on the carpet?" or "Miss Main can I go move closer to the board?". Flexible seating in my room will allow my students not only a choice in where they sit, but how they are siting. I find that the more choice my students have, the more they are willing to do the work that is asked of them. Kindergarten is so much more work than it use to be, and these students deserve to have some choice in how they spend time doing what is asked of them. I believe that the option of flexible seating will enhance their learning, allow room for growing in the classroom, and create an atmosphere of comfort. These kids spend 8 hours a day with me and I want them to feel at home, I think that flexible is the best way to do that.
