I am the Math Coach and Interventionist at my school. I am trying to build a strong intervention system. Technology must play a huge role, since there is no money in our budget for extra teachers. Also, the programs available now, such as DreamBox Learning, are research-based, adaptive and data collecting. This allows me, as the math coach, classroom teachers, and administrators to track student learning and see where help is needed. I have already secured 15 iPads and have started using them with first and second graders for intervention, and in Math WOrkshop, so that teachers can work with groups and differentiate learning.It has been a huge success. Students love the programs, but at present, we have 15 iPads to share among many classrooms. When we obtain enough iPads, they will also be used for literacy intervention.
