Students are constantly being challenged with hands-on activities, virtual activities, and problem solving to stimulate the learning of the sciences. We foster a collaborative learning environment which leads to the creation of a positive learning community in my classroom. The students I teach are high school students that are completing their final journey through secondary school in preparation for higher education, enlistment, or employment. This all-in-one printer will allow students to create and print notes, classroom posters, and study cards to improve their study skills and their overall knowledge of science. These documents will help keep students engaged while learning science, which is key to their understanding. It is also important to reinforce student learning through practice and homework assignments. Many students do not have a computer for completing work at home and even if they do, many times the internet access is dynamically limited depending on the financial situation. Furthermore, some of these take-home prints need to be in color in order to assist in the understanding of a science concept. Having an in-class printer will allow students to print-out assignments in situations like these.
