Read-along listening center allows students to increase reading fluency and to build basic reading skills. During the day my students have the opportunity to choose to go to different centers including listening center. Currently my students don’t have an engaging listening center. Making sure my students are exposed to a variety of children’s literature is an essential component in supporting their reading. The Spanish picture book read-alongs will be very useful in creating the confidence my students need to become more confident readers while enjoying books in their native language. I have noticed when my students listen to stories on a CD they are more engaged. Read-along listening center also teaches students critical listening skills and introduces new vocabulary. The read-along listening center will benefit all my students. My students will benefit from listening to a fluent reader while closely have the opportunity to follow along with the text and improves their expression. Definitely these products will be an asset to support my students reading skills.
