The use of social-emotional skills is critical to one's daily functioning and mental health and wellness. With my students' ability to access the Respectful Ways curriculum modules, they will have a greater chance at success in acquiring these critical life skills. These curriculum modules, in addition to the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards, will allow me to better prepare for the Therapeutic Instruction group sessions that I hold daily in my Intensive Learning Center class.
Many of my students come from a background of trauma and are in dire need of learning social-emotional skills that target social awareness, self-awareness, relationship skills, responsible decision-making, and self-management. The problem with finding an appropriate curriculum for SEL (social-emotional learning) is finding one that is trauma-informed, accessible to students on and offline, aligned to CASEL core competencies, and is project-based and customized to our specific population of students. The Respectful Ways curriculum modules are not only trauma-informed, but is also the only one approved by the Attachment and Trauma Network, offers two online modules (one for teachers and the other for students to access from home or school), and meets all CASEL core competencies through engaging students in relevant project-based activities to teach foundational life skills that are applicable across all settings. By donating to our project, you will help our students to better acquire the applied social-emotional skills needed to develop their confidence and help with their successful transition back to their home schools in order to pave the way for their academic and social success.
