Fidgety Helpers
Funded Aug 12, 2021Thank you for donating to the Fidgety Helpers project! Many different sensory tools were purchased to help students who have difficulty sitting and focusing for lessons as well as for students who may get very upset and need time and tools to help calm down.
The students use the stools daily when working at my table in small groups. They love coming over to sit on them. The stools allow them to get some wiggles out if needed. Some students have trouble staying in their chairs and use the wiggle seats to help stay seated and focus better.
The favorite tool in the class are the popits. Those are in the calm down corner for students to use if they are upset and need a break. If they could, all the students would use them all day. Also used by students if they are upset, are the "calm down jars" where they watch the different colors come down and flip it over to see the colors again if they are still upset.
Thank you again for helping the kindergarten students learn and be better students!”

Funded May 4, 2021The students are excited every day to look at books during reading time! Currently, the kindergarteners are just starting to learn letters and sounds so when looking at books they read the pictures. They are also learning print concepts such as pointing under the words, going from left to right, top to bottom, and beginning, middle, and end of words and sentences.
By the middle to end of the year the students will not just read the pictures, but will be beginning to read the words and learn reading strategies to help them decode unknown words.
Thank you again for the donations for the books. The students are learning a lot and love looking at them!”

Funded May 4, 2021The students were very thankful and excited to have folders and pencil cases to help keep their supplies organized on the first day of school. In the classrooms, the desks do not have space to hold their materials, so everything is in a bucket and easy for them to get to.
Each folder has a different purpose. The purple folders are the take home folders, the yellow folders are for math, and the green folders are for ELA. Having the different color folders makes it easy for us as teachers to say take out your green ELA folder and put the paper in it. This is helping the kindergarteners learn organization at a very young age.
The pencil cases hold their pencils, crayons, scissors, glue and dry erase markers. They are a great size and it's one easy thing to pull out to get the supplies. The notebooks/journals will be used later in the year when we start writing.
Again, thank you for your donations to this project. The students enjoy having their supplies right at their fingertips.”

Funded Aug 11, 2020I want to thank you so much for the crayons, markers, colored pencils, scissors and pencil boxes. Due to COVID, students need to have their own individual supplies so germs are not spread. This project allowed for that to happen.
The students are using these supplies daily for academic activities such as coloring the letters to differentiate between consonants and vowels or cutting pictures to show different parts of ancient civilizations. They are also drawing during snack time. The pencil boxes fit all the supplies perfectly and fit in each student's desk.
On the first day of school the students arrived to the classroom and opened up the pencil boxes to see the supplies that you helped buy them. They were so excited to have their own things and not share! Thank you for helping to put a smile on their faces each and every day!”

Funded May 28, 2020Thank you so much for donating to the Teach On Meets project! I realized when COVID hit, I was unable to do the teaching necessary to help the students learn best, and unable to interact with students using the same technology. From this project I received a chromebook and bag to carry it in to keep it safe.
I am now teaching both in person and virtually. The chromebook is allowing me to do meets with the kids when I am teaching virtually. I am able to see the students faces and their excitement with learning. I can share my screen and show them ways of doing math problems or put on readers theater plays for the students to participate in as a group.
The students are enjoying the learning we are doing and look forward to seeing me everyday on the Google Meets that I do on the chromebook. Thank you again for helping me have a successful year with my students!!”

Funded Jan 30, 2020I would like to thank you for your donations to support my project to help the students be more involved and help them with their math learning. Due to the timing of when the materials arrived and the COVID-19 shut down, the students have not had a chance to use the materials.
I began to use the white board before the closure. It was great for my small group lessons. I was able to have the objective written for the students to see and read, and then do word problems on it. It was the perfect size for my table!
When we go back to school, my goal will be for the students to learn how to use the materials. The dominoes will be great for different math centers such as for addition and subtraction facts, a sorting center and counting center. I am super excited to use the magnetic 10 frame paddles with the students to work on subitizing numbers and seeing numbers in different ways. They will be great for fluency activities!
I again thank you for your donations and cannot wait to use all the materials I received. I hope we are able to return to school soon, but our new normal of teaching will take time to get used to. I hope to show pictures when and if we return in the spring or in the fall.”
