Help us iPad our Science and Math Instruction
Funded May 8, 2024Thank you for the support and access to technology that helps take the classroom to the next level. We are so excited to use the iPads. We use QR codes to complete assignments, access websites, complete labs and collaborate on projects. The students love that the new iPad does not die and holds the charge longer than the older ones. They also are able to be more productive and in a less strenuous and stressful way of learning. Some of my students use the text to speech feature to write their essays as it is easier for them to communicate their thoughts verbally. This technology has helped so many of my students with individual education needs. Thank you so much.”

Funded Mar 27, 2024We are so excited and have been and will continue to enjoy our resources. The impact has been great for the community. Everyone is more health conscious of the ingredients in the food we eat. As African Americans we must be vigilant in our efforts to minimize the health challenges in our community.
We have been using the ice cream blender to make different sorbets, ice creams, and other frozen delights. We have tasted the difference when using frozen fruits and fresh fruits. Instead of wasting fresh fruit or vegetables we have been able to make smoothies and such out of it. The crock pot has helped us all portion and also have family moments within our community. We will continue to host community events to spread the awareness.”

Funded Apr 26, 2022Some skills my students have been able to work on is building reading comprehension and decoding words even better. We have been using blueberry blends to help students who are reading below grade level. Also we have used eagle eye strategy that teaches the students to use the pictures to help when reading.
Reading looks like a Starbucks cafe in our classroom now with these new books. The children absolutely love them and the feeling of loving a brand new book is incomparable. All of my students love the books. My struggling readers can't wait to be able to independently read from the new books. I have even let them partner read to kindergarten”

Help My Students With Technology for Remote Learning!
Funded May 5, 2021Technology has been helping my students learn by providing reliable access to many apps and platforms. Apple has great access to programs that tablets can not operate. It allows me to be able to provide immediate support for my students and they also know how to use it to help themselves as well.
The new product is the most exciting to my students because it is the latest generation. The screen is wide so they all can see the screen very well, especially when we join our zoom assemblies from the classroom due to Covid.
My lowest performing group of students have especially warmed to this new technology by giving them access to imagine learning. This program allows my English language learners to receive instruction for 30 min a day in their native language by using the iPad.”

Funded Dec 7, 2020First and foremost, thank you for this incredible experience and its benefits being brought to my students. During COVID-19 it has already been extremely challenging for the students to be as physically active. As far as in schools, we must maintain social distancing during physical education specifically our track and field team.
We are undoubtedly filled with gratitude that this opportunity came to fruition. The students were filled with this glimmer that things were improving when they saw the new supplies. They felt like someone cared enough to buy them some new equipment during a time when everyone is struggling. This pandemic had an ability to rock normal life at its core and to see the students so excited was great to witness.
The students specifically love using the agility ladder. The one we had was all damaged. In addition the students love using the weighted basketballs. They are working more on their form with the newfound resistance. The students feel like they are ready to compete once school sports games possibly resume next year. We feel like more students will be interested in our team since we have updated equipment.”

Funded Jul 16, 2020So many students are really adjusting to remote learning in NYC alongside the option for blended learning. This technology has been heaven sent for the students. First it was great getting them to come off camera and use a virtual background but that did not help them communicate.
Then I saw that the students did not type well. This allowed me to set up a typing account to help but they still wanted to participate- verbally, even just talk to their friends. They were always listening because they had a headset but not a headset with a mic.
The excitement the students had when they picked up their headsets along side their books, it was truly rewarding.
Every student was elated. Those who were using their gaming headset for school now were able to put their gaming headsets down and use the headset with mic provided by their teacher.”

A Wish Upon A Printer
Funded Jun 4, 2020Many teachers assume students have access to wifi, technology and even printers. This pandemic has shown me that even the simplest access can be challenging for students and families. It has been great working with my students and relying on them to become the teacher especially with helping them learn remotely.
The new product that is most exciting for the students are using online platforms that mimic the in person experience. Their favorite web platform has been kahoot and whiteboard.chat. They love being able to take a picture of their work and pasting it onto the board when they prefer the pencil and paper approach.
Students are now understanding the platforms they use are not only for fun to TikTok but they can also use their same technology skills to integrate into the classroom beginning with the printer!”

Help Us With Our Art and Copy Paper
Funded Jun 30, 2020My students have been using the new resources daily. Given that we are in a pandemic we have students who are in person doing blended learning and those who are working remotely but technology access is surely a problem still.
The students and their families were so relieved to know that this project was funded. It was and is stressful enough to be in the place that we are- I could not imagine that accessing the resources included in this project as being something on top of everything else they are trying to keep up with.
The next steps in the project are the students are able to reuse the paper and products for art. This is a great way to pay it forward.”

Funded Aug 13, 2020This technology has helped my students feel super safe in these confusing times. As rate begin to rise they feel super secure that we have temperature thermometers for the forehead in the classroom.
The nurse has plenty of responsibilities an essential worker and teachers need to be partners with the nurses and have the ability to be proactive
The students were confused at first but then they warmed up quickly and felt very reassured.
particular students that have warmed to this technology are the ones with allergies. They just feel like this helps keep them safe.”

Funded Aug 13, 2020This technology has helped the students be more comfortable in person during blended learning. The air ventilation is a huge concern and it leaves the students coming towards freezing on the colder days. It is very reassuring knowing that we have a back up filtration system for our classroom.
The students felt so safe using this new product in the room. They also were like this is the same one they've seen in the doctor's office, which made they feel even more secure and safe.
All the students have warmed up to this technology. It has been amazing helping the air stay clean.”
