Occupational Therapy Fine Motor Fun
Funded Dec 29, 2024Having my 'Occupational Therapy Fine Motor Fun' project funded has had a remarkable impact on my classroom and students. The new resources have brought a fresh sense of excitement and engagement, offering creative tools and activities designed to enhance fine motor skills. These resources, such as sensory timers, textured materials, and building kits, have been integrated into daily activities, allowing students to develop hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and problem-solving skills in a hands-on way.
When the students first saw the new materials, their reactions were filled with joy and curiosity. Their eyes lit up as they realized the fun and challenging activities they could now explore, whether it was through crafting, building, or sorting exercises. The excitement was contagious, and the energy in the classroom shifted to a more focused and eager vibe, as the students were genuinely motivated to participate in these new activities.
In terms of usage, the students have been actively incorporating the resources into various tasks. They've been practicing their scissor skills, engaging in fine motor games, and building fine motor control through puzzles and interactive toys. The resources have also encouraged social interaction, as students collaborate on tasks, building teamwork and communication skills while working on their individual development.
The next step for the classroom involves continuing to build on this momentum by expanding the variety of activities that target different fine motor skills. We plan to incorporate more personalized challenges and introduce more complex materials that encourage critical thinking. Additionally, integrating these activities into daily lessons will ensure that fine motor skills become an organic part of the students' learning process.”
