"Camp Auburn is our kind of place, bison and rattle snake, french fries between your toes" - I can hear the theme song ring across the campfire as students sing loudly with their friends building bonds that come from attending outdoor education. Camp Auburn is the longest-running school sponsored-camp in the United States. These students will sleep in cabins for 3 nights, learn about water flow, conduct a pond study, build shelters, practice boating safety, hiking, knot tying, recreations, team building, and so much more!
Unfortunately, the cost of camp can be a huge barrier for most of our students' families.
For many of our students, camp can be one of the first experiences sleeping away from home, or spending quality time experiencing nature and the fun that comes with that. For some, this will be a chance to sleep in their own bed, experience family-style meals, and bond with their classmates and teachers before heading off to middle school.
We have so many deserving students who would love to have this experience, but whose families are simply unable to spare the funds. Through this grant, we are hoping to bring the overall cost of camp down for all students, as well as provide some with scholarships. We know that we definitely need more money than what we are asking, but every little bit helps, and we want all of our students to attend camp.
Thank you for helping our kids with the opportunity for this hands-on learning, confidence-building experience that will provide them with amazing memories they'll have for the rest of their lives.
