Easels Can Make Learning Easy!

Funded Jan 15, 2020

My new easel has impacted my instruction and student engagement in ways I did to anticipate. It has become a valuable tool in every part of my day. I don't know what I ever did without it.

I originally wanted the easel so my students and I could work on anchor charts in floor groups. We have used it in this way several times. The students are so eager to add to our charts that I have to draw sticks for students to answer and not call on hands because ALL hands are up! This is wonderful engagement.

I have also been using the dry erase feature in every portion of our day. I will write the morning work expectations on the easel and display the worksheets or additional resources on the over-head projector. When I am doing small groups in reading and math, I write the independent work in the order that it needs done and the students just go down the list. Students love when I accidentally leave something off because they catch it every time and are quick to volunteer to add it to the board.

Another unexpected use is during my whole group math lesson. I can work on the book on the over-head projector and pull the easel beside me for more work space. I love that it is on wheels. It gets pulled all over our room.

I love that the back of the easel is metal. I had some magnetic dry erase erasers that attach to the back and I purchased some magnetic marker holders to attach. My classroom easel is a staple in our classroom now and we use it constantly. Thank you!!”

With gratitude,
