Having a culturally diverse classroom is crucial in building young children's self confidence as well as providing awareness, inclusion and appreciation of each other's diverse backgrounds and culture. Since we learn through play in Pre-K it is important to provide culturally diverse play materials for our students. From an early age children are experiencing and learning about the world around them and learning to appreciate differences among their peers. It is the job of educators to provide an inclusive learning environment and with these materials we can do that. We will use the multicultural puzzles, dolls and clothing in our dramatic play area to incororate diversity into our everyday environment. Diversity should not be taught as a separate unit. Instead it should be incorporated into the everyday environment.
