May the Sports Be With You
Funded Dec 30, 2024We are so grateful for the generous donations. I am always in awe of companies and individuals that will assist teachers with helping to provide new equipment to help children stay focused and interested in learning. My students range in age from 14 to 22 and their abilities are very limited. Each of them has an intellectual disability which affects their fine and gross motor skills and the new equipment and provided us with new activities and lots of fun.
Working in a low-income area, we receive very little parental involvement. Many spend most of their time after school on an electronic device, having a way for the students to have access to new ways to exercise, move their bodies and have fun is such a blessing.”

Funded Oct 14, 2024It is wonderful to have a quiet place to relax and clear our minds. The soothing scents add such a great aroma to the room and assist in the calming aspect. We have also enjoyed using the space to have conversations with our students. It is a safe space where we can share our problems, funny stories, and ask questions about anything. I have truly enjoyed the comfort the large pillows have given us to sit and cozy up with a book or a story.
We are so blessed to have donors like yourself who believe in the public schools and support us whenever possible. Many times words cannot always comfort our students, but calming lights, relaxing scents and a soft place to collect ourselves can do wonders for our soul.”

Funded Jan 26, 2022Thank you for funding our "Let's Get Cooking" project. The donation of a convection oven, stand mixer, blender, griddle, aprons and 6-piece bakeware for our school café is greatly appreciated. Our program is designed for high school students with intellectual disabilities learning transitional skills for independent living.
Within the program, students learn valuable life skills and vocational skills. Students receive training in the use of different kitchen appliances such as convection ovens, blenders, mixers, and griddles. They also learn valuable skills in food preparation (wash hands, wear hair nets, gloves, aprons...) and cleaning up afterwards. This includes washing and drying dishes and pans, cleaning ovens, countertops, tables, sweeping, and mopping floors. After that, students are responsible for washing aprons, towels, and tablecloths in our washer and dryer, and then folding them and putting them away. Your donations are allowing our students to grow in experience and independence.”
