With additional resources, students with disabilities will develop stronger reading skills, expand their vocabulary, and improve writing skills. These are essential skills for students in high school and seeking employment beyond high school. Providing students with disabilities direct instructions at an instructional level supports their success. Students will be given a daily lesson in English Language Arts to support their progress in their general education success. Without these basic skills, students face developing learned helplessness which often leads to them giving up before they even get started. To give these students a chance this project is essential for their development.
