Children of poverty share common characteristics with children that have dyslexia. As educators, we know that these children link experiences to new learning. In fact, for most, it is essential that they are provided these experiences at school. Hands on learning is not only important, but it is critical for children in poverty. It makes learning happen faster and increases the likelihood that the students will retain the information. These sounds tubs will be used in our kindergarten classrooms when introducing new letters and their sounds. They can also be used throughout the year for other skills, such as beginning and ending sounds in words and building words.
