Summer Transition Program Art Class Materials!
Funded Jun 6, 2024Thank you SO much for your generous donations and playing a part in funding my project. With the funds raised, I was able to buy materials for our art classes during school's Summer Transition Program.
This program is an integral part of some of our students transitioning from fifth grade (elementary school) to sixth grade (middle school). The program provides a bridge for students experiencing some heightened anxieties or hesitations about coming to middle school. In addition to covering things like important locations (nurse's office, classrooms, bathrooms, etc.), how to open a locker, and getting acclimated to the building, students are also provided with some social-emotional support. Students who participate in this program make new friends, attend classes like art, gym, maker-space and coding, and fun with science! They will also work with with one of our school-adjustment counsellors on coping skills, conflict-resolution, and other things they might face in middle school.
With the money, I was able to purchase art materials such as: air dry clay, paint, paintbrushes, bracelet making kits, coloring books, sidewalk chalk, construction paper, clay tools, origami sets, and other arts & crafts supplies. My students and I had so much fun in art class this summer! Some of the materials have lasted long enough that I will be using them throughout the school year for my Social Studies students.
Thank you again for your generosity, and please enjoy the attached pictures of our art classes!”

Bouncy Bands
Funded Sep 21, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity. My students LOVE the Bouncy Bands! Because of your donations, I was able to equip every student desk in my classroom with a Bouncy Band. When I first received the shipment, I explained to my students what they were for and how we got them. They were so excited and grateful that we got these donated! One of my classes helped me put them on all of the desks. They paired up with each other and worked together to put the bands on the desks. All of my students really enjoy these bands and have expressed that they wished their other classes had them as well. I bought this to our team and we as a grade are going to create another Donors Choose Project to get enough bands for all of our classes!”
With gratitude,
