Help Us Promote Our Creativity and Expression Through Writing

Thank you for helping our class receive journal notebooks to support remote and in person learning. Our students are using their journals for social emotional learning, which helps them to cope with the difficult time we are all facing due to COVID-19. Students are learning about emotions and write journal entires explaining how they feel and what makes them feel better. In addition, we use our journal notebooks for writing workshop. Students have written personal narrative stories and informational pieces on an animal of their choice. The journal helps them neatly organize their thoughts and practice handwriting.

When our students first saw the notebooks they were so excited and eager to write. Since many of our students come from low income households, receiving new school supplies are so exciting for them. Especially for our students who are learning remotely, receiving an item from their school and teachers, who they miss seeing daily, was a joyous experience for them.

Our next social emotional learning unit that we will focus on in our journals is how we can cope with our emotions and we will learn specific strategies that support this. Thank you again for your donations that helped support our students.”
