Students attending Spanish immersion camp will feel like they've left the country! When we check in to the campgrounds all students will go through customs, have their contraband confiscated (anything in English and all cell phones), and will exchange their USD for Mexican pesos. Our camp counselors will be native Spanish speakers that are trained to help emerging language learners develop their communication skills. My students are excited to eat the made-from-scratch meals that are made using authentic recipes, to play games, and to go shopping with their new currency. We will participate in a variety of outdoor activities, have a campfire, perform skits, and problem solve all in Spanish! The curriculum of the camp is based on current research and best practices which make the teachers happy, but the activities are so student-centered that attendees report feeling as if they were having fun at a normal summer camp.
