Preschoolers are naturally curious. They pick up everything inside and outside and want to learn more about it. Their favorite word can be described as "why?" The discovery area is where I can help them answer those questions and explore how things work, but I need the right materials for it. It's important for me to be able to provide my students with the manipulatives to help them succeed. I want to show them the cause and effect that science can teach us. The magnifying glasses, sea shells, and bugs will help them looks closely into nature. We can bring in pinecones, snow, leaves, and have them investigate them. We also have a class fish that they love looking at. More magnifying glasses will help us so every child can explore science. A lot of these items can be used in a small group setting for intentional teaching. I want my kids to use the eyedroppers so we can show them how to mix colors. I want to use the magnetic wands with the chips and have the kids explore magnets. Why did the chips stick to the wands? What else can we find that is magnetic? A super fun activity we can do is fishing for letters and numbers. Then they have the opportunity to tell us the letter or number they fished for. There are endless activities that I can provide for my students with these materials. My kids have never been exposed to these types of science materials, and with your donation, I will be able to provide that experience to them.
