  • Getting "Tech-Ie" During This Pandemic

    Funded May 29, 2020

During these unprecedented times, our ability to communicate with our students has been pivotal. Never have we seen the use of technology as the key component of a child's education. Thanks to your kind generosity, the iPad has made zooming with students so much more efficient.

Technology has increased engagement for my students to complete non preferred task. Often times, I am able to use technology as an incentive to complete non preferred task, while other times I use it as the direct means to achieve their academic success.

The use of technology provides instant rewards to students that need reassurance when completing academic activities. It also allows me to use the Osmo application. This application works on a variety of different skills which include: visual discrimination, form constancy and manipulation skills, just to name a few.

You've been an integral part of student success! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jessica

This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and 2 other donors.
  • "Sensory" Explorers

    Funded May 5, 2020

Covid 19 has greatly impacted all our lives. Unfortunately at this time we have not been able to use our wonderful supplies. Once school re-opens, I look forward to sharing their experience as the use the wonderful gifts you all made possible. After all this chaos, sensory input will be something my students will be lacking. The chairs will enable my students to attend to simple teacher led instruction while receiving sensory input. The toys will also provide input as my students return to their return to the new normal.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jessica

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Drive-In and 10 other donors.
Starfish and balance ball chairs provide students with the sensory input they need to increase their attention to academic activities. Modulating sensory input is needed for attention and academic success. With the drill and design activity, students receive multiple input via tactile, sensory, and sound which will increase their attention during play time. Through the use of multi-sensory input, a hyper child calm down to attend to the teacher activity. In addition, sensory input can help modulate a child that is having a difficult day in school. The requested cabinets will be used to help us organize our materials to easily find items when our students need them.
