My students enjoy being able to work in different areas of the classroom. At this time we are limited to tables and the floor with whiteboards to use as a hard surface to write on. My goal is to have a floor table where they can use the floor cushions to work and to have the clipboards so that they can move while they work if needed (we like to write the room and it can be a challenge for their paper to stay on the whiteboards we have even when using binder clips). The fluorescent lights in our room are very bright but since we only have one window it is not really an option to turn them off, my hope is to soften the harsh lights with the fluorescent light covers. Since this is my first year I really have started the year with very little as far as learning centers and organizational supplies. I have some hand me down baskets for supplies but I am constantly picking up crayons and pencils because of the holes in the baskets. With the caddies I would not have to worry about that and my students will be able to find their special pencils quickly since I can assign each group a color with a matching caddie.
