    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you so much for helping fund our new sensory station!! My class students will greatly appreciate being able to have their own spot in the classroom where they can take a break, stimulate the senses, and help them regulate each school day. I can't wait to put these to good use!”

  • Staying Calm With Sensory Breaks

    Funded Aug 24, 2020

I cannot thank you enough for donating money to help my students have their own sensory items!! Thanks to your very generous donations, my class has access to their own weighted blanket to help them calm down and their own sensory items for break times. In the past, I've seen the benefits of having a weighted blanket and a calm down area for everyone to use, but this year has been a little bit different. I was worried about the students not having access to a mutual "break" area and that it would be difficult for them to see a model of how to use the items and feel motivated to calm down safely. How wrong I was!

Having their own weighted blankets has made the students feel more inclined to use them and I have seen a huge difference in the percentage of students class-wide who engage in socially appropriate self-regulation skills. I thought that individual items would be something I would only do during covid, but after seeing the actual outcomes I am convinced that this is a necessary move I will continue to do year after year! Thank you again for your wonderful donation to this project!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. J

  • Individual Supply Buckets for Social Distancing

    Funded Aug 18, 2020

Thank you so much for contributing to this project! My students have benefited greatly from having their own supply bucket. After seeing the difference in classroom behavior and hygiene, having students use their own supply bucket for their materials will be something I continue to do after covid is long gone!

Prior to having the buckets for students, we ran into multiple problems with storing materials, whether it was losing pencils to the abyss of messy desks or being able to efficiently clean up in a timely manner. Now students are able to quickly clean up or find necessary items, and I am able to visually see all of their items in one glance. On top of which, sanitizing their items is done quickly and efficiently, just spraying their buckets in seconds and saving valuable learning time. Thank you so much for contributing to our safety and learning this school year!”

    With gratitude,

  • Technology for Online Learning

    Funded Feb 24, 2020

Thank you SO MUCH for this incredible donation to our classroom!! My students are going to be so excited to start using these chromebooks and headphones right away. We need online access so frequently throughout the day that even a few extra devices goes a long way. We will definitely see the benefits of accessibility and we couldn't have done it without you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. J

This classroom project was brought to life by Ogden School Foundation and one other donor.
In this day and age, technology is moving from being supplemental in the classroom to an absolute requirement. Curriculum that used only paper and pencil 15 years ago now has instruction online in addition to the teacher-taught lesson. Students don't just count blocks on their desk, they log in to interactive programs for diagnostic assessments and instruction on their level. Not only do they practice their handwriting, but students in lower elementary grades now need typing practice daily to prepare them for typing an essay by the end of 3rd grade on the SAGE test. It is difficult to ensure that enough time is spent on crucial academic content when a class of 12 students has access to only a handful of computers. We frequently run into the problem of the computers are full but someone needs to log on, so I'm left prioritizing which student's online academics are going to get done for that group. Even if we were to have enough computers, we run into the problem of where to put them. If my class had access to Chromebooks (small, convenient, don't take up a lot of room) and were all able to log in at the same time, it would free up some flexibility in our schedule and allow us to spend more time where it matters, not just equal time in rotations. There would never be a question each day of anyone's online academic time not being met and we could focus more on the quality of teacher- and staff-led group instruction. My students log in anywhere from 60-90 minutes per day, so the benefit of everyone having their own device to log into would be felt immediately.
