Throughout my many years as a Special Education teacher, I have learned that flexible seating is key for students with special needs. When students are allowed to choose where they would like to sit, it allows them to feel empowered and esteemed. Furthermore, flexible seating permits students to change their location and positions as needed. This is important for students who struggle with attention, as they need to move! This special table and cushions will provide them with the ability to wobble, rock, and lean, each increasing oxygen flow to the brain, keeping their young minds alert and focused. In addition, many flexible seating options stimulate students’ sense of touch. This type of stimulation can help children focus and process information. Sensory input is especially helpful for my students not only with ADD/ADHD, but those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The materials that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! Thank you so much for your consideration!
