I have autistic students that need a number of materials to learn how to begin and complete tasks. The materials I have asked for are necessary for their individual cognitive growth. Painting can teach them colors (solid or mixed), improve fine motor skills and allow them to love the feel of painting. Playdough helps with their writing abilities. Some of my students have trouble holding writing tools. I have asked for whiteboard to practice letters. The playdough will help to strengthen their hands. In our imaginative play area we are limited with characters. I have asked for animals and people to enrich our play area. I will model caring for animals. The dolls I have asked for will allow me to teach them adult responsibilities (good hygiene, teamwork and problem solving through communication).
