  • Nourish Our 8th Grade Regents Students

    Funded Nov 20, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our students. When it's time to distribute snacks students literally surround me with enthusiasm. Sometimes students trade or share their favorites. Food not only nourishes us, it also brings us together. My students are so happy to have something that is both healthy and tasty to help them sustain energy and focus during the long after school hours.

Since these snacks are consumable any contribution to further projects involving snacks would be highly appreciated. Thank you so much for your help. It might seem small but its impact is greatly felt.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Collins

  • Fantasy in the Bronx

    Funded Jan 27, 2020

Unfortunately due to Covid 19 we where unable to utilize the books in the capacity intended : to engage with the Fantasy Unit.

We intend instead to use them to support our Breakfast Club Book clubs which we just launched this month.

We plan to read them during one of our cycles. I can't wait to share updates and highlights from the book club. My goal is to create a really student centered space to have deep conversations around quality literature.

We thank you for your patronage. It will allow students to have access to literature that often times is not put in front of them or read in traditional classroom settings.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Collins

With access to these books, students will for the first time get to take home and keep a book that they can read closely, annotate and think critically about...their own book! Not only will students read and consider characters, themes and authors craft in this novel, they will also write their own fantasy stories after Pullman himself. This unit will culminate in students engaging in gamification of the novel. Students will work in teams to create their own digital or board game based on the book. Students will share and play their games sign the Wild er s book community.
