Reading Resources for Early Readers
Funded Oct 7, 2023Reading a chapter book in first grade is a huge milestone! Due to your generosity, my class has a new bin of high-quality chapter books to choose from. My students were thrilled to have so many options! They couldn't wait to dive in and explore each book series.
The students adore the colorful visuals, animated characters, and engaging storylines. They love the variety and accessibility of the text. These books appeal to students of all levels, from my highest readers to my reluctant readers. They will be read and enjoyed for years to come. Thank you again for the gift of reading!”

Spark Curiosity with STEM Bins!
Funded Dec 1, 2022We are so grateful for the STEM bins! They are fun, interactive and encourage the students to engage in creative play. They challenge students to work collaboratively and think outside the box. Just this week, we invited our kindergarten buddies to join us for a writing lesson. We read the book, "I Love My New Toy!" from our March Mo Willems unit. Students worked in pairs to design a new toy. They drew a picture and wrote about their creations. It was exciting to see them problem-solve and work together to select the right materials.
Activities like this and others have helped my reluctant writers to generate ideas and produce more writing. More so, the STEM bins have granted students the opportunity to build social skills. This is a big area of focus in first grade, as students learn how to take turns, show respect, and listen to others. Thank you again for your generosity and igniting curiosity in our first grade classroom.”
