This VersaTiles math set will help my students grasp all the necessary math concepts for first grade. With VersaTiles Math, I am able to address my students' math content gaps during independent practice and for use in small groups, rotations, centers, and stations. Students are able to independently check their work and fix mistakes while also having fun. When my students are given activities that are hands on and engaging, they are more focused on their learning and less disruptive to their peers. This set will continue to enhance my mathematician's thinking and allow them to choose from a variety of activities that are all standards based. Seattle did a study in 2017 that found in second grade – before children have even learned their multiplication tables – little girls have caught a stereotype: math is not for me. Math is not for girls. While the data that was gathered was not from Iowa, I have seen these stereotype in my own classroom with girls thinking they are not good at math. I want to provide as many tools for my students, girls and boys, to show them that math is fun and math is for them!
