Keeping students engaged can be a challenge in this day and age which is why I often use centers in my classroom. Students move around the classroom in a different area for about 20 minutes. This allows them to focus for that full 20 minutes and then when it is time to switch gives them a chance to get up and move to a different center. These center times are very important because they focus on different skills they are learning for the week and it gets them out of their own desk they sit at for the whole day. I am hoping to provide comfortable seating for my reading center in my library for the kids to relax and really focus on their work.
