My goal is for my students to learn how to use all kinds of maps as they expand their knowledge of our world. I’ve found many sixth graders are challenged when it comes to using maps without technology to aid them. I want each of them to be self-sufficient and capable. Junior Scholastic and the map skills books will help students understand current world events and learn to think critically about the world around them. Through stories about students in other places they will learn about citizenship and how other students deal with the challenges around them. They are already such a giving class and actively involved in community activities.
