Our school recently became a Full Service Community School and we are working towards minimizing barriers our children and their families face in order to achieve academic and emotional success. Flex seating has been known to be a positive tool in creating a more engaged classroom. Students feel empowered by the choice of where they sit and who they sit with. The easy movement is also good. The children can wobble and bounce as they learn. This will keep their brains alert. Flexible seating also engages their sense of touch and for many children with ADD or ADHD, sensory input is very helpful. Overall, the children will be more comfortable, they will continue to learn to work in community, and do so in a safe nurturing classroom.
