Helping Students Hear to Learn and Grow Individually!

Funded Jan 7, 2020

Thank you so much for investing in my students! As a teacher in a diverse (economically, socially, ethnically - we got it all!) school we often see disproportionate resource abilities even for things as simple as headphones. In a middle school math classroom like mine, you can really see the difference and gaps in math understanding across students. Technology allows me to begin to bridge and build through those gaps.

Even though I have the ability to reach students at different levels, there is a social stigma that comes when a student may be working on a 2nd-grade math level in a 6th or 7th-grade classroom and they previously would not listen to the vital information because they didn't' want to be embarrassed. However, since receiving the headphones, I was able to experience many more students engaging with the videos and working at their own pace. For their growth and their growing confidence in their math abilities, I am grateful.

While all students appreciated the headphones before we moved to non-traditional instruction at home, my own home school students (because of the Covid-19 pandemic) have very much appreciated the use of the headphones now. My "students" are able to continue their learning at their own level (from 7th grade to pre-k), zoom with their school classes, etc. Looking for rainbows through the rain, I'm recalibrating how I will teach in the fall to better integrate technology through all of my classes. Thank you for helping me do so and providing the necessary resources to my students!”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Snell
