  • My Tiny Hands, My Social Distance View!

    Funded Apr 12, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous classroom donations. My students have enjoyed learning, imagining and playing with their "new" toys immensely. My students are using them in their individual "centers" and their individual "office" spaces as we continue to follow social distance protocol in classrooms.

My students reactions to new material was similar to Christmas morning opening a present. They can hardly wait to play with it. Naturally, I read the instructions on ways to play with the new toys and then as kids are natural builders, math math experts, and problem solvers, they organically used the material to create and imagine their own ideas and activities.

The next steps for my students is to provide a kindergarten readiness approach using a few ideas directly from a kindergarten teacher on how best to help transition students ALL while understanding they are indeed still preschoolers and learn and create at their own pace. I would also like to create a new project that is supply based and air on the side of caution with regards to the real possibility of Virtual Learning. The supply list alone to provide a classroom of 15 with the tools and material they needed at home to learn virtual was taxing.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Regina

  • My Tiny Hands! My Big View!

    Funded May 30, 2020

How many ways can I say THANK YOU for your generous classroom donation to my " My Tiny Hands, My Big View" classroom project. My students absolutely love playing with the toys. They are building with the blocks and magna-tiles, sorting the animals, lacing, mastering letters of the alphabet and numbers and using the counters to sort, classify and count. As you can imagine, the school year of COVID19 has been a big adjustment for onsite classroom learning. However, my students are doing well!!!!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Regina

These learning toys will help my preschool students effectively engage in learning while having fun. My student population reflect various ethic groups, learning styles, and learning abilities. It is critical for my students to accept, tolerate, respect, support show kindness toward each other. It is also critical that my students play and learn together at a young age. "Play is the highest form of research'' Albert Einstein. Play, in a natural, or teacher directed setting is also a preschooler's serious work. The learning toys I have requested will help my students develop love for long-life learning. My students are considered at risk for school failure for a variety of reason including poverty, special needs, environmental, traumatic experiences and more. Because of those reason, my students rely and need a school environment that is developmentally appropriate, safe, well managed and well equipped. The learning toys would make a tremendous and positive different in my class as my students master learning a letter of the alphabet, counting number forward and backward, building, creating and exploring. The learning toys would help the class stay fresh, rotating them in and out of centers, and teaching my students concepts.
