Social/Emotional Learning That Hits the Spot
Funded Aug 14, 2024This project has made it possible for me to use the Little spot of emotions curriculum in my classroom to help my students learn about their emotions and understand how they are feeling. Daily we start with the students identify how they feel upon arriving at school. Throughout the day we talk about the little spots and the feelings that any given student might be experiencing. The little stuffed spots make it easy to see, touch and experience the spots and help the students remember what they are learning. The books are wonderful and come with simple visuals and examples of the different feelings and emotions. Many of the books have extra extension activities that can be done with the class to help the concepts stick. We will read one new book each week and focus on that feeling/emotion for that week reviewing the book, doing the activities suggested, etc. Since I am in a special education classroom with students who have high level of needs the books combined with the stuffed spots is so important. I have 2 students in particular who really relate to the spots and enjoy playing with the little stuffies regularly. I am so grateful to have had your support and help in making the little spot of emotions program a part of my classroom!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Megan
