Reading is Our Happy Place!

What an amazing gift each of you are to our students!

Thank you very much for your support, generosity and kindness as you made our wish come true!

The children are ecstatic exploring the new resources, especially our decodable books while sitting on the comfy couch, chair and bean bag.

Each group of children that come into the Reading Room are able to select text that is "just right" so that learned skills can be applied hence unlocking a world of understanding, exploration and imagination!

The children feel so much joy at the start of each class sitting with new text sources, "stuffy" friends and comfortable furniture.

I am able to listen to and read with each child using our new resources at the start of each new lesson!

When the students were first introduced to our new resources, they were so happy, surprised and thankful! Their faces lit up! They could not wait to read the new books and try out the new furniture.

Some feedback from students: ..."I like to sit in the bean bag chair with my Squish- mellow and new books!"..."I feel happy because the new book helped me read better."...I love the new things that were donated."..."I really have fun on the miniature couch."

The next steps with our new resources is to expand our writing using both fiction and nonfiction decodable text. The children will write responses to literature and share facts learned with nonfiction. The children will continue to build foundational skills, background knowledge, and expand vocabulary so that each reader can move closer to comprehending grade level text.”
