Sensory tools allow students to take charge of their emotional and sensory needs and make the choices that work best for them. During dysregulation they choose a tool in the classroom that works best for their needs at that time. Currently my students do not have many items to choose from. Making sure students are regulated is an essential component in educating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their sensory tools. My students are noticeably more engaged and regulated when they are given a choice of sensory integration tools to utilize. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional tools to make more effective integration choices. The floor tiles will allow students to use gross motor movements to help them calm down. the in-hand tools are fantastic for when a student needs a break in between activities, or in transitions outside of our room. I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
