These flexible seating options will give kids more choice, comfort, and focus in the classroom. Sitting at a desk all day can be unmotivating and difficult for young learners. I have explored and experimented with a few simple flexible seating options and have seen the difference it can make in a classroom of wiggly 5 and 6-year-olds. We have used pillows, clipboards, stools, and milk crates to create our own flexible seating, but are now ready to expand our options to create the best learning environment for young learners. The sensory input that these new seating options will give will help kids to be more alert and engaged in their learning. The yoga ball chairs are on wheels and this will allow us to use them easily in any location in the classroom. Many kids like to work on the floor or at a low desk, so the wobble cushions and donut exercise balls will allow them to comfortably do this while getting movement at the same time. The wobble cushions can also be added to our traditional chairs and then used at our regular desks. The options these materials will bring to our classroom are endless, and we are super excited to get started using them!
