These resources will promote the following Nevada Academic Content Standards for Visual Arts: VA:Cr2.6.1 Demonstrate openness in trying new ideas, materials, methods, and approaches in making works of art and design. These students have not received the opportunity to experiment with acrylic paint at this level because of the cost of the material so this will be a new material experience for them. VA:Cn10.6.1 Generate a collection of ideas reflecting current interests and concerns that could be investigated in art-making. These standards are relevant to the lesson the students will be learning with these materials because students will be blending current events and interests with the pop art movement art style.
