Fun With Science and Engineering Through STEM!
Funded Sep 24, 2021My students are in love with the new materials we have received! We have been able to stretch our creativity to new heights and build things we couldn't build before! The screw driver sets have been a fan favorite of ALL of my grades! The hand eye coordination and direct connection to real tools has been great. We have also been using our new magnets to not only build new things but learn exactly how magnets work and how different magnets can do different things. We always appreciate new materials in our classroom. The students have a blast on building days when we can work on our engineering skills, sharing, and working with partners! Thank you all so much for supporting us!”

Funded Sep 23, 2021I can't thank you enough! It is only because of your donations that our amazing bearded dragon has a fantastic tank she will be able to grow in to! We adopted our bearded dragon this summer and she has been our constant science companion. Because of her we have learned how to: safely handle animals, what bearded dragons like to eat, how to keep ourselves healthy after handling her, and what her natural habitat is! The students love to help take care of Zil and see how she moves around in her HUGE tank and love to watch her climb climb climb!”

Funded Aug 12, 2021Thank you so much for helping me stock my science shelves with new and exciting books! Getting students interested in science, technology, engineering, and math can be difficult with boring out of date books. Our new STEM books are exciting and help to foster a love of reading and help students develop an interest in STEM topics. We have been using our new books as whole class read alouds with the younger grades and the older students have been using them to find new project ideas! Every time I read a high interest book that catches my students' attention and teaches them something new is a day we win in the classroom!”

Funded Apr 20, 2021One of my favorite pass times is reading. My love of reading is something that I try to share with each and every one of my students. Finding high interest books that are at my students' reading levels can be difficult. My low level readers want to read the "cool" books they see other students reading. The books I was able to purchase through this Donor's Choose project helped my students get excited about reading. They are always excited for new books to hit the shelves, especially exciting ones that are at their reading level. I have never seen so many book conversations and recommendations happening then I did when we received our package in the mail!”

Funded Jun 16, 2021The organizational shelf we received through our Donor's Choose project has help our classroom stay neat and tidy! Our school building is a little older and most of our classrooms do not have drawers and cupboards to use for materials. Through your amazing donations I was able to assemble our new shelf and have it ready to go for students before the school year started. We have all of our scissors, glue, post its, rulers, crayons, markers, colored pencils, different color and sized paper, sanitizer wipes, kleenex, bandaids and daily calendar all in one easy to find location! We have labeled our materials so the students know exactly where the find the things that they need. It has helped our students stay organized and they are able to easily put their own materials away!”

Funded Mar 23, 2021My students have absolutely LOVED having all of these amazing hands on activities to use in the classroom. The Magna tiles, building planks and math games have been a huge success. The kids have really enjoyed working with other students in the classroom and exploring the fun new uses of these creative materials! After being out of the classroom for so long it has been nice to see the students get used to working together again. They have been building up not only their math skills but their teamwork skills as well!”

Distance Learning for All
Funded Sep 16, 2020My students will be so excited to find new graphic novels at their reading levels when they return to in person learning. Graphic novels fly off of our library shelves but many of them are high level reading books. Being able to purchase graphic novels for beginning readers allows students to choose books that are exciting for them and helps to foster the love of reading.
The teachers pay teachers gift card was so helpful to me during our distance learning. I will also be teaching split grade classes when we return to school and I do not have curriculum for split grades. These resources will be invaluable to me as we come back to school.
I was able to create grade virtual lessons using the web cam that was purchased through this project. The students loved to interact live with me during our online lessons! Thank you all so much for your contributions!”

Funded Sep 8, 2020These materials have brought such joy to my students. Delivering their bag of goodies has been the highlight of my year so far. Being able to see my students in person and drop off some fun supplies was such a treat. We have been using our art supplies to get creative! We meet online for live art projects and the students use their play dough to help them tell stories and use their creativity. The headphones were greatly appreciated because many students did not have their own pair at home. My students would like to thank you all so much for your generosity. We wouldn't have been able to do a lot of our fun activities without your help.”

Diversifying Distance Learning!
Funded Jul 24, 2020Starting the school year in Distance Learning has been difficult for both the teachers and the students involved. My students did not get to start the year building the sense of community they are used to in the classroom.
Since we are unable to be in the classroom we have been unable to provide students with the materials they would normally have access to. With the help of your donations I was able to put together bags of supplies and deliver them to each one of my students. They are now able to use their white boards and write on wipe off pockets to practice their skills away from their tablets.
The Daily Practice journals have been a great way to post academic review that is accessible to all level learners in my classroom. The students have also been able to enjoy the STEM activities that I have posted for them on Seesaw. While teaching this way isn't ideal for the teachers or the kids, we have been able to make the best of a difficult situation because of the materials you provided for us. Thank you so much for your support”

Funded Dec 18, 2019We have been enjoying all of the new resources available in our classroom. We began by using our new items in small group to get the hang of how to use them and now the students are able to use them during their independent learning time. The kids love the pattern blocks and have been challenging each other to build more and more difficult patterns. I have also been seeing students increase their knowledge of basic facts as they use the power pens to check their skills. These materials are also brining my students together. They love to use the power pens and the pattern blocks in pairs and small groups. I love seeing them working together.
We opened our packages as a group and the students were eager to help me get the shrink wrap off of all our new goodies and to help organize our materials in a way that makes them easily accessible to everyone. They have been making sure to be extra careful picking up after themselves to keep our new materials in good condition.
Our next steps are to continue to solidify our understanding of multi digit addition and subtraction. Many of my students feel frustrated because they don't feel like they are making growth. I am working with them on finding new ways to think about the problems they are faced with and to give them the opportunity to use new resources to help expand their thinking. We are going to continue to grow as a class and my students are learning how to support and help each other. I love watching my students
grow as a team. We give our thanks to all of the donors that helped fund our project. We wouldn't have had access to these amazing resources without you.”

Ms. Holden
