  • Save the Earth!

    Funded May 2, 2023

One of my students' favorite things to do in our classroom is curl up with a good book! Every single day we set aside time for both independent reading and whole group reading. These times give students the choice to read books that are interesting to them and read books that are at their level. When we get together for whole group lessons we focus on books with important messages and books that will help us strengthen our reading skills.

One of the things we are always lacking in our classroom is time. There is never enough time to teach all of the things. With these books we have been able to combine science and our read aloud time. We have been able to learn about how to help the world around us by recycling, planting trees, taking care of bee gardens and making sure to pick up litter. These books also have a wide variety of representation so my students get to see characters that look like them! These books have been amazing!”

  • STEM Connections

    Funded Jan 13, 2023

Thank you for donating to my classroom! It has been SO frustrating to have amazing equipment that my students were unable to use. This laptop has allowed us access to not only our vinyl cutter but also our 3D printers! Some things just cannot be done on the student iPads! The kids were so excited when we got to print out our very first t-shirts! With your gracious donations we have been able to explore new technology in our very own science classroom. The students have also had a chance to show their own creativity, engineering and coding skills! We really appreciate you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Holden

  • STEM Books!

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

I cannot thank you enough for your donations. We always get so excited when we have new read aloud books to explore together as a class. The students love reading them together and making connections to things going on in our own science classroom or the world around them. Books are such a great way to make connections through multiple subjects. We have also REALLY been having fun with the new STEM challenge books! Our fifth grade students participated in an aqueduct challenge and they really rose to the occasion! It was so exciting to see them take every day objects found in our classroom and turn them in to functioning aqueducts. Again, thank you so much for your support!”

  • Classroom Supplies!

    Funded Jan 12, 2023

Thank you so much for contributing school supplies to our classroom. My students helped me unbox our new supplies and we were able to get them organized and into students' hands right away! I cannot even explain how excited they were about the new crayons and markers. We have been using them for some amazing science projects and just for some really fun coloring pages. I was beyond excited to finally get my own laminator. Being able to laminate things quickly in my classroom has been a lifesaver!”

  • Engineering and Inquiry

    Funded Oct 27, 2022

We cannot begin to thank you enough for your amazing donations. My students have been learning to create and build with these new materials because of your generosity. They get excited every time we get to open new Donor's Choose boxes. Our kindergarten students have been excited to have their own special set of animal Duplos to explore. We have used them to talk about different animal traits, habitats and food chains. Who knew there were so many great ways to learn with these amazing materials?”

  • 3Doodler Pens

    Funded Jul 7, 2022

Our 3Doodler Pens have been absolutely amazing. We have been using them during our Makerspace time at school. The students love that they get to control the device themselves and that they can change what they are making as they go. It doesn't hurt that they also get to choose the color they create with.

As we have been using them more and more I have been watching the students become more creative in the things they are building. They have been thinking about how the 3Doodler pens work the best and what techniques they can use to create sturdier and stronger designs.

Our students that struggle with behavior have become especially fond of the 3Doodler pens. They can sit for an hour and just create and work with each other. They have been providing feedback as they change their structures and are teaching each other how they engineered their finished products! These have been a great addition to our school!”

  • Engineering in Elementary

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

I cannot even explain to you how much joy these materials have brought into my classroom. My students look forward to our engineering/building days because they can't wait to get their hands on the new Magna tiles, magnets, and Duplos. They are constantly showing their creativity with these materials. I watch as both younger and older students use the magnets to determine what things in the classroom they will stick to. They work to build bigger and better structures and discuss how they can work together to keep them from falling down. It is such a joy to watch them as they learn and share with these materials. Thank you so much!”

  • STEM Books for Kindergarten and Pre-K!

    Funded Apr 26, 2022

Thank you for contributing to our science classroom library. Many of the books on our shelves are out of date and/or do not represent the students in our building. This influx of new books has got my students excited for science read aloud time. We link our stories to the concepts we are learning in class and we use many of our books to talk about how scientists have to have a growth mindset! We come back to these stories and reference characters that have struggled with their creations, how they handle disappointment and frustration but never give up and keep trying!”

  • Energy, Circuits and Fun!

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

I can't thank you enough for the contributions you have made to our science class. The Squishy Circuits and Snap Circuits we have been able to purchase through Donor's Choose have helped not only bring interest into the classroom but have really helped students better understand electricity and how energy flows. The students love these materials so much that they ask to bring them out during their free time so they can keep exploring. They have used these materials to challenge themselves to make more and more complicated circuits. Thank you for bringing ENERGY into my classroom!”

  • STEM Building!

    Funded Dec 6, 2021

We wouldn't have access to these amazing materials if it wasn't for your generosity. We have been having a great time learning about animals, space, force and motion, and the water cycle, but my students favorite days are our engineering days. When we get to pull out our engineering and robotic materials they get so excited. They love to team up in groups or with a partner and try to make bigger and better things each time. Their creativity is endless and they are learning so much. When I first brought out the new materials the couldn't wait to get their hands on them! Thank you so much!”

These materials will greatly improve my reading and math time as students will have a chance to engage in more hands-on activities. The goal is to create a more student centered classroom where students feel motivated to explore and learn independently. The reading materials include high interest independent practice at a variety of levels and fluency practice that will help my struggling readers. The math activities are for independent work time and include games and puzzles that review our third grade math standards. These activities will also help solidify understanding of earlier standards that students may continue to struggle with. I believe that a new and fun approach to learning will engage my students and help them become successful independent learners. I selected these materials not only because they match our third grade standards but because they are also at a variety of levels. I want all of my students to feel successful and work independently regardless of their current level. I would be absolutely thrilled to add these learning materials to our classroom.
