When learning brand new concepts like letter naming, counting, rhyming, and sound matching, our newest little learners need copious amounts of practice and repetition. Having a "say" in the content is both engaging and inspiring. I have found that kiddos truly enjoy making their own learning materials. This type of construction paper is not available at my school. It is sturdy and smooth, just right for little ones to write on, cut and handle. I love using this paper with markers for the kiddos to personalize their sight word and letter flashcards, math games, and puppets for story retell. The markers help them add color detail to their projects. Large craft sticks make a perfect handle for puppets to use in our recycled (box) puppet theater. Little hands and minds simply adore being actively engaged with the learning process. Getting children involved in simple, yet engaging ways can significantly increase the impact of instruction and practice. In addition to providing meaningful practice in the classroom, young learners can take these items home to show their families what they are learning at school.
