Students Learning While They Move!
Funded May 3, 2022Thank you for your contribution to making our classroom a place where students can move while they learn! My students really enjoy having choices to either stand or sit while we are working on lessons. Providing these choices helps students find the best way for them to focus and learn while other students are making appropriate choices for themselves. The students couldn't wait to have an opportunity to try the three different flexible options funded through this project. While some students prefer a wobble stool, others really like the freedom of standing and using a foot bouncy tool.
My students ask to use these flexible seating options every day and I am grateful to have ways for them to feel most comfortable while learning in my classroom. I hope to continue to grow our flexible seating collection so that every student has access to a seating choice at the same time.
Thank you for helping make our classroom a place where students feel free to choose what is best for them! It has made a huge difference!”

A New Charging Station for Digital Learning in First Grade
Funded Sep 24, 2021Your generous donation has helped our classroom technology use in many ways! Student Chromebooks are always charged and organized and everyone is able to be responsible for their own device. This is huge in a first grade classroom! Prior to having the charging station, students chargers were located in various locations in the room so that all of them could be plugged in at the same time. Now, all of the Chromebooks are in one space using one outlet!
Something we strive for in first grade is ways in which to help students be and feel independent. Having a charging station has given them the ability to be in charge of their own device and it's whether it is charged or not. Each student has their own numbered Chromebook that corresponds to a charging cable and slot in the charging cart. At the end of use, they simply have to slide it into their slot and plug it in. No more messy, knotted cables or saying they couldn't find a charger.
We use technology multiple times a day in the classroom so having charged devices is essential. This new charging cart has guaranteed that all students Chromebooks are ready to use at all times. Thank you from all of us in Mrs. T's first grade! We truly appreciate you and your help!”

Funded Oct 21, 2021Thank you doesn't seem fitting for what these books have provided to our classroom. Due to the ongoing pandemic, students in first grade have had limited direct, in person instruction before this year. As a result, reading typical first grade level books is frustrating and difficult for many. These early readers have helped give EVERY student in my room more confidence and helped them to truly become readers. It is heartwarming to watch them work through these books believing that they can actually read.
We use these books everyday in our classroom. At the beginning of every day, after completing morning work, students are given the opportunity to read for a few minutes before we dive into subject areas. The students always choose these books! They are fun, entertaining and so confidence building that my kids want to read as many as they can during the day. After a student has read 10 books to me, they can receive a prize. Because these books have repetitive sequences and pictures to represent unknown words, students at all levels are able to successfully work towards the goal and a prize. I simply cannot express the positive impact these books have had in our classroom. Without you, this love of reading would be much more difficult to achieve. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!”

Funded Sep 16, 2021Thank you so much from everyone in 1T! The students in this class LOVE to read and enjoy looking at and reading the new books daily. They particularly enjoy being able to snuggle into the beanbags in our classroom library to read. In our room, students can earn stickers towards prizes for reading books to a teacher/adult. Students have often chosen the books donated through this project to earn stickers. They are also learning meaningful lessons with the stories of perseverance and friendship in the books funded through "Cozy seating and new books for my First Graders!"
I love having a place in the classroom that students can go when they need a break or simply to gather their thoughts and feelings, which during these difficult times, happens more often than it used to. The bean bags are a retreat for students that helps them to come back to the whole group and be ready to once again tackle the learning of the day.
When the wobble stools originally ordered were unavailable, I amended the order to include quick drying paint sticks. These creative tools are used on every craft project we do! From Science to ELA, students are always finding ways to incorporate the use of these great tools into learning. It has helped to brighten our work and keep us clean at the same time!
Our classroom is a place filled with love, comfort and learning where students are pushed to become the best versions of themselves they can be at 6 and 7 years old. Your generosity is helping us to daily reach our goals for academic and social emotional learning. Thank you all so much!”

Mrs. Tsipenyuk
